In 1950, Ruth Sarwark’s Thanksgiving was interrupted by the arrival of my father, Frank.
On Sunday night, Frank Sarwark’s battle with Alzheimer’s and aging ended.
There’s no good way to lose a father, and there’s nothing that can make a father’s absence feel right.
In between that Thanksgiving 73 years ago and last Sunday, Frank Sarwark did some amazing things and gathered some great stories.
He didn’t pose for a lot of pictures or speak much publicly, so there’s not a lot of footage of him publicly available, but if you want to hear his voice and see him in the jacket above, the commercial is archived on my YouTube channel.
Now there are no more stories for him to gather, but the rest of us can share our stories with and about him, that his memory should not fade.
He was a good man.
